Review and Giveaway: Jamberry Nail Shields

I recieved a sample of Jamberry Nail Shields from the lovely TJ to review. There are so many designs available, I got the design “pink butterfly.” Isn’t it cute!? I love this design, it’s very girly, but if you don’t like “girly” designs, there is plenty more to choose from. You can go to to see the other designs.

Jamberry says “Jamberry Nails Shields are solid firm coverings that can be applied directly to the nail to achieve a look not found anywhere else.”

My favorite part of these nail shields are the amount of designs that are available, plus they add new ones quite often. The website states that their are “Over 250+ designs and more being added each month.” Each design is $15 and comes with instructions and 18 shields. Although I cut each shield in half, so it’s good for 2 manicures! At first I didn’t like that you have to apply heat to it, though I think it’s worth it.

  • Over 250 designs
  • Can be used for 2 manicures
  • $15 for two manicures
  • No topcoat needed
  • Pretty pliable even before applying heat

  • Need to apply heat
  • A little hard to file off the excess
  • The adhesive needs to be a little more sticky in my opinion

Grade: B

I love Jamberry Nails! Looks like you needed a little more heat and pressure – they should be smooth and tight across the nail. I also recommend a rougher nail file if you are having trouble filing off the ends – you just have to get rough with them! LOL

  10. Love your review – I would recommend the application video on YouTube though … If applied correctly you should be able to get 3 to 4 sets from one Jamberry Sheet. It looks like you definately need more heat and pressure; if you heat the shield for at lease 15 seconds and stick it to your nail – then apply more pressure, smoothing side to side (a rubber tipped cuticle pusher works really well) then heat up really well again and tug the shield – stretching it out past the tip with a downward pull – hold it over the edge until it cools. Then you can trim the shield and used a zebra file with downward motion to get a nice edge. The more you do them, the better you will get. Oh, my favorite shield is the Floral Magenta which has a really pretty metallic accent. Glad to read your review.

Looks like you didn’t finish the application process in your picture. You should pull those tigther, press them down firm and apply more heat. THEN file off the ends. I wish I could add a photo of what the nails *should* look like.

The Jamberry nail company has changed the formula and way they make the nails and they have gotten SO MUCH BETTER!! Much stickier and easier to apply!! Woot! :)
